Home battery installation

A home battery stores solar power you'd otherwise export, so you can use it in the evening. Whether you're adding a battery to existing solar or installing both together, we'll explain your options and what a battery will and won't do for your home.

What we look at

  • Installed by an SAA-accredited installer (Battery Storage, design and install)
  • Your existing solar system and inverter, if you have one
  • Battery size based on your evening and overnight usage
  • Whether you want backup power during outages, and which circuits
  • A safe, compliant location for the battery
  • Switchboard capacity and any changes needed
  • Monitoring set up and explained before we leave

Backup power is not automatic

Not every battery provides backup during a blackout, and those that do need to be set up for it. If keeping the lights and fridge on during an outage matters to you, tell us up front and we'll explain what's needed.

Common questions

Can I add a battery to my existing solar?

Usually, yes. It depends on your current inverter. Some systems can take a battery directly, others need extra equipment. Photos of your inverter and switchboard help us work this out.

Where can a battery be installed?

There are rules about where a home battery can go, covering things like living areas, exits and ventilation. We'll check your options on site.

Got an electrical, solar or battery job coming up?

Whether you're a homeowner with something that needs sorting, or a builder or solar company looking for a reliable electrician, we'd be glad to hear about it. Give us a call or send through a quote request, and we'll get back to you to talk it through.
